Evie sighed and continued, "Frederic has always been popular with girls since he was young, and he has become even more of a handful as he grew up. There were many women who liked him, including those from good families, but only you have been by his side for five years without changing. Your dad and I see it clearly, marrying you is Frederic's good fortune."
I still stared at Evie blankly, not knowing what to say for a moment.
Evie smiled and patted my hand. "Syl, your dad and I wanted you to be a part of our Hudson family because we genuinely like you as a person. It's not just for any benefits, you know?"
"Mom..." I found myself choked up, unable to express the emotions in my heart at that moment, I just nodded. "I know."
If only I had known this in my previous life, I wouldn't have ended up becoming enemies with the entire Hudson family.
I followed Frederic eagerly for so many years, but I never made my way into his heart. However, luckily, my parents-in-law saw all of this and approved of me.
With Evie's genuine affection, I felt comfortable and harmonious living under the same roof with her. However, I didn't know when Frederic would come to pick me up as he had mentioned.
It has been three days since all of this happened!
Tristan greeted me every day, checking if I had returned, very worried about the caretaking of Pudding by the servants at my home.
I replied with frustration, "What do you think of my family's maid? A cat abuser?"
Tristan: "Not really, I just feel like you would take care of it more carefully."
This person is outrageous. After I sent him a "goodbye" expression, he threw his phone aside.
Just as I lazily lay on the couch, my mom called. I answered as usual and sweetly exclaimed, "Mom, miss me?"
After a few seconds of silence, the phone emitted her restrained sobbing, "Syl, please come back!"
I was startled in my heart, with a sense of unease, and asked, "What's wrong? Mom, are you crying? What happened? Where is my dad?"
"You come back first. Your dad and I are waiting for you at home." She didn't answer my question, then she just hung up the phone after saying that.
I didn't have time to call back and ask again, so I immediately found Evie and asked her to arrange a driver to take me back to Aroma City.
Evie asked me what had happened, why I was in such a hurry. I didn't answer her carefully, I just said there was a little emergency at home and I needed to go back immediately.
Evie didn't say much and immediately arranged for a car to take me back to Aroma City. Before leaving, she instructed me, "Syl, call me anytime if you need anything."
"Okay, Mom, I'm going first," I said, sitting in the car and nodding heavily with a heavy heart.
After several hours of driving, I arrived home. My parents were sitting in the living room, and the atmosphere was very oppressive and gloomy, occasionally interrupted by sobbing sounds.
On the coffee table in the living room, a pile of photos was haphazardly placed. As I walked over and took a look, my expression immediately changed.
In the photo, there was an ambiguous picture of my dad and a woman. In the background of a hotel room, the two were sleeping on a bed, although covered with a blanket, their bare upper bodies were exposed.
My dad's face looked very unpleasant at the moment, sitting there with a stiff posture.
"Now Syl has also come back, you tell her!" My mom wiped her tears and gritted her teeth as she spoke to him.
"Dad, what's going on?" I was just as shocked as my mother. In my mind, my parents were the most loving couple in the world. My dad never went astray either. I was influenced by their relationship and firmly believed that I could pursue Frederic and live a happy life with him.
