Chapter 164 Sylvia's Divorce Struggle and Emotional Journey

After finishing speaking, I reversed and left from the other side. Upon returning to Maple Villa, I quickly drafted a divorce agreement.

If Maple still refused to sign, then I had no choice but to sue him.

Although I had already drafted the divorce agreement, I still couldn't calm my inner turmoil. I couldn't help but imagine what would happen when Frederic stormed into the Farrington's place.

Emilia must have been very happy and proud. That indicates that her tactics were very effective.

While I was feeling restless, Ruben sent me a message. "Sylvia, I will be on vacation soon. I will buy a ticket to go home in a few days. Are you available? I would like to invite you for a meal."

I didn't even think about it and replied to him, "Okay, I'm free tomorrow."

Ruben quickly replied to me, "So, what do you want to eat? After we have lunch tomorrow, we can go for a stroll in Ogeham Park and climb Mooree Mountain. I heard the view of the snow scenery from the mountain is beautiful."

I replied with just one word. "Okay."

That night, Frederic did not come back. It had been a long time since I anxiously waited for him like this. After being reborn, I accepted our ending, so I was always able to control my emotions well.

But now it seems like I have returned to before my rebirth. I am as restless as a cat on a hot tin roof.

As a result, I had a sleepless night. The next day, my overall energy and spirit instantly deteriorated significantly.

In order to meet Ruben, I forced myself to cheer up. After dressing up, I drove to the address he had arranged.

"Sylvia!" Ruben was wearing a white short down jacket and gray jeans. He still looked youthful as I approached, and he asked with some concern, "What's wrong with you? Did you not sleep well? You look a bit pale."

I forced a smile. "Well, I had a nightmare last night."

Ruben was a college student, but he said, "Then you should place a pair of scissors under your pillow to ward off evil spirits."

I was originally feeling down, but I suddenly felt a little lighter. "Do you still believe in this?"

"As long as you are sincere, the effect will be very effective. You can give it a try," Ruben turned his head and looked behind him. "Gigi, do you agree?"

I just discovered that he was carrying an orange cat on his back. Through the transparent cover, it was meowing inside, as if responding to its owner's words.

"You're right. I'll give it a try one day." I played with Gigi for a moment and then looked toward the high-end restaurant next to us. "Are you treating me to this?"

"Yes. Do you like it?" Ruben felt a little embarrassed. "Actually, I have never tried a high-end restaurant."

Ruben came from an average family background. He relied on part-time jobs to earn money for his tuition and living expenses. This was already quite impressive. He definitely wouldn't want to waste money on meals. I can understand that.

I shook my head. "Not really fond of it. I've been loving hot pot lately. Let me treat you."

Ruben immediately refused. "No, I promised to treat you to dinner. I cannot let you pay!"

"Okay then. I still want to have hot pot." I don't want Ruben to spend too much money. I'll just have something simple.

I didn't have any appetite to eat now. I came out for the appointment to divert my attention, so as to avoid staying at home and overthinking.

After searching on his phone for a while, Ruben had an idea. "This store has a good overall rating. Shall we go and give it a try?"

"Okay, let's go," I blurted out.

Ruben smiled happily. The pain and unwillingness from his past heartbreak had long disappeared from his eyes. In comparison, it seemed like he was able to let go of certain obsessions more easily than me.
