Frederic did release me indeed. There was a trace of blood on the corner of his lips.
"Did you bite me?" He raised his hand and wiped the corner of his lips, tapping it with his fingertips. His fingertips immediately turned even redder.
There was still a faint taste of blood in my mouth, but I didn't have time to care. I just casually wiped it away and replied, "Who let you act recklessly?"
"Who's the one messing around, me or you?!" Frederic exclaimed angrily. "You were the one setting off fireworks with Tristan on the hospital rooftop, climbing Mooree Mountain with Ruben, and going to listen to open-air performances with Dylan. Aren't you the one messing around?"
I paused for a moment. How did he know everything?
Frederic's tone couldn't hide his jealousy. But I still remember him saying that he didn't like me. I was just being overly sensitive.
"Frederic, were you jealous?" I asked again.
He glared at me. This time, instead of denying it again, he self-mockingly said with a tone of frustration, "Yeah, I was jealous. Can you believe it? I actually got jealous because of you and other men. Isn't that funny?"
I was extremely shocked at that moment.
It has been ten years, and for the first time, he was jealous because of me.
"I originally wanted you to live a life of loneliness and torment, to make you regret marrying me. But I have actually started to like you a little. Otherwise, I could have divorced you without hesitation and been with Emilia," Frederic said, giving up on holding back his emotions.
I suddenly welled up with tears, not because I was moved by it and wanted to repeat the same mistakes, but because my ten years of effort finally received a response.
It was like an obsession for me. Just when I was about to let go, he told me that he liked me.
We fell silent for a moment. I spoke up, "Frederic, you should go back. I will carefully consider what I want. You should also think about what you really want."
"Okay." He went over to the chair and grabbed his coat. After giving me a glance, he left.
After he left, I cried a lot. I let out all my emotions. My dad called me and said, "Syl, come back tomorrow noon for a meal. Jeff has returned."
I tried my best not to show any signs of crying, "Okay."
Jeff has been living abroad for many years and also runs a company. However, he focuses on the international market and only comes back once a year at the end of the year.
"Syl seems to have become more beautiful. Have you gained a little weight? It looks good on you," Jeff praised when he saw me.
"Jeff, you're finally back!" I exclaimed happily as I saw Jeff and his family, and ran over to give them a hug.
Lucy smiled and said, "You indeed looked prettier. You are such a beautiful girl!"
I shamelessly said, "I am almost the same as before, always beautiful."
"Yes, you have always been a beautiful girl!" Lucy agreed.
"Hey, why didn't Cruz come back this year?" I asked curiously.
Jeff answered, "He opened a branch this year. He was busy at the end of the year, so he didn't come back."
My dad interrupted, "Rebecca has also been interning at the company, right? It seems like she just graduated from college. I think she is no worse than Cruz."
"Not like my silly daughter at home. She only wanted to play the violin and date. Look at her now... sigh."
Jeff also found out about Frederic's situation. He said seriously, "Syl, you really need to consider your future. Your parents are getting older. Frederic's heart is not with you, so you need to learn how to manage the company. You absolutely cannot hand over The Scott Group to Frederic!"
My parents exchanged a glance without saying a word. But I knew they meant the same thing. The situation with Frederic and Emilia had completely dashed their hopes for Frederic.
