Emilia cunningly staged a suicide act, causing Frederic to worry about her and making my mother-in-law realize her position in Frederic's heart. However, as soon as she was discharged from the hospital, her mother locked her up.
If I were Emilia, I would also be furious.
Kira's words were sincere, and I also knew that she wasn't a bad person, so I reluctantly agreed, "Alright, I'll try to persuade Frederic, but I don't know if he will listen or not."
"Okay, thank you, Ms. Scott," Kira hung up the phone.
I pondered for a while, dialed Frederic's phone number, and recounted Kira's words to him.
Then I asked, "What do you think? Should we persist or give up?"
"Don't worry about it," Frederic detected the sarcasm in my tone and replied coldly.
"Come on, it's you who doesn't want to divorce me, so why are you still so impatient?" I snorted. "Frederic, you better find a way to appease your mistress quickly. She's been locked up, and you've been dragging your feet on divorcing me. Now she must be furious, right?"
"Sylvia, your eloquence is getting better and better. You know how to say things that annoy me, don't you?" Frederic asked.
I now realize the benefits of rebirth. The groundwork I did earlier is slowly paying off, so my mind is very clear, and my eloquence naturally improves.
"Where is it? I just wanted to remind you that Emilia is young and immature. I'm afraid she might not be able to handle it," I said slowly. "Forget it, do as you please. I'm going to sleep and have a beauty rest."
After finishing speaking, I hung up the phone and then lay down directly on the sofa.
When I was about to fall asleep, my phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
I answered the phone and lazily asked, "Who is it?"
"Sylvia, it's me," Emilia's usually crisp and sweet voice sounded a bit nervous and uneasy. "Can we meet? I'm waiting for you at Encounter Café."
"Didn't you get locked up at home?" I asked curiously.
"Let's talk when you come over," Emilia said in a low voice.
"Okay."
I hung up the phone and went out to drive to Encounter Café.
Emilia was already waiting for me inside. There were a few waiters in the control room who occasionally glanced at her. I reckon they had all already seen the news.
Emilia dared to arrange a meeting with me here. Her mental strength is much stronger than I had imagined.
Seeing me coming, Emilia ordered a cup of black coffee for me. There was a faint smile on her pale and weak face. She said, "Sylvia, I remember you used to order unsweetened black coffee every time you came. Do you need a change?"
"No, thank you," I said as I sat down across from her. Then I got straight to the point and asked, "What did you want to talk to me about?"
Emilia bit her lip and held the coffee cup in her hands, her fingertips rubbing against the surface of the cup, seemingly hesitant to speak. After a while, she asked softly, "Did you succeed in filing for divorce?"
I was slightly surprised. She actually came to ask me this question?
Emilia's eyes were slightly moist, but she still looked at me calmly. "Perhaps, if you two got divorced, my parents wouldn't oppose me and Frederic's relationship so strongly anymore."
