Chapter 184 A New Beginning After Divorce

Originally, I was really like a joke. I had no idea why Frederic kept hurting me repeatedly.

Originally, in this story, I couldn't even be considered as a supporting character.

I rolled down the car window, and the cold wind poured into the car, blowing on my face. My tears were blown away as soon as they fell.

The driver asked, "Mrs. Hudson, aren't you cold? You might catch a cold."

"I'm not cold," I stubbornly replied, even though my temples were already throbbing from the cold.

Maybe I should have let the cold wind blow away my foolishness and ignorance.

When I got back home, it was already pitch black outside. My parents were surprised to see me return so quickly.

They immediately guessed that I was in a bad mood, surely because something had happened at Evie and Ernie's place.

"Syl, what's wrong? Why are your eyes so red?" my mom asked worriedly.

"I was fine. Evie and Ernie advised me not to divorce Frederic, and I got a little angry and cried for a while." I have calmed down a lot now and managed to force a smile.

My dad exclaimed angrily, "How dare they advise you not to divorce Frederic? Why didn't they teach that good-for-nothing son of theirs a lesson earlier?"

My mom agreed, "That's right."

"Dad, Mom, don't worry. After the New Year, I will go to Uncle's place. I plan to separate from Frederic for a few years, and then directly divorce him," I replied.

"Have you made a decision?" my mom asked tentatively.

"I have made up my mind." I didn't want to continue playing a role in this story that couldn't even compare to a supporting character. Moreover, our marriage was burdened with a life lost. In that case, we shouldn't continue together.

My dad nodded approvingly. "Alright, we respect your decision."

"Alright, now that you're back, let's cook together. Come and do something, don't think too much." My mom pulled me to the kitchen and assigned me some tasks.

I listened to her and became her assistant wholeheartedly. Before twelve o'clock arrived, we prepared a table full of delicious food.

This is the first New Year's Eve I have spent without Frederic since we got married five years ago.

Frederic would never appear again in the future. I need to start getting used to it from today.

The atmosphere of our family of three was very warm and harmonious. My mom suddenly sighed and regretted not having another child in the past, otherwise our home would be livelier now.

My dad deeply agreed and started advising me, "Syl, once you divorce Frederic, find another good man. Trust me, have another child in the future so that it will be lively during the New Year."

"Just for the sake of having a lively atmosphere during New Year, do I have to have another child?" I drank a few glasses of wine and felt my face getting warm.

"Of course. The advantage of having children is that it's lively during holidays. Otherwise, what's the point of having a bunch of mischievous kids?" My dad straightforwardly expressed his opinion.

My mom and I exchanged glances, and then my mom half-jokingly scolded, "You men always talk about how easy it is. If you're so capable, go ahead and have a child yourself. Having a child is like experiencing death once. I don't want my daughter to suffer so much!"

My dad listened and seemed to agree. "You're right. When you gave birth to Syl, there was a lot of bleeding, and I was terrified. At that time, I even wondered if we shouldn't have let you have the baby."

"What nonsense are you talking?" My mom exclaimed angrily, grabbing a fork and preparing to hit my dad.

I was amused by them and burst into laughter. Suddenly, the sound of fireworks came from outside. I turned my head to look out the window and saw the dazzling fireworks intertwining in the night sky. It was truly beautiful.

Another year has come. I silently watched the fireworks, murmuring, "Let me start a new life."
