After I hung up the phone, Frederic's face turned extremely gloomy. "Are you feeling so miserable staying here with me?"
I looked around. "Yes. I remember a few years ago when I was waiting for you here alone. I had dinner at my parents' house and then went home with you. I lived alone like a widow. Do you think I was feeling uncomfortable back then?"
Frederic hesitated for a moment and then said, "I never said I wanted you to wait for me at home."
"But you knew I would wait for you at home!" I became a little excited again. "Don't you know how much I love you? You were trying to punish me with my love for you, weren't you?"
"Moreover, I had no idea about Lillian before. I always thought that you had never loved anyone, so I foolishly rushed to marry you. I treated you so well. I thought I would make you gradually fall in love with me. If I had known that such a thing happened that day, I would have left you."
After saying all this, I realized that my eyes had become moist. My voice sounded very helpless.
This kind of weakness is not the emotion I should have had.
So I stood up, with the tip of my left foot touching the ground, trying to strike a proud pose. "Frederic, for the past five years, you have always taken out your temper on me. But I took it as a punishment to myself because I love you. Treat Emilia well from now on. Don't hesitate anymore."
The living room fell into a long silence until Greta's car honked outside the gate.
She sent me a message, "Come out. I'm here."
I walked out, limping, holding my phone. Frederic did not stop me.
"Is Frederic inside?" Greta asked, looking at the half-opened gate, after I got on the car.
"Yes." Without Frederic's coat, I felt very cold.
"Dylan said he took you away. This scumbag, I curse him to never have a good night's sleep!" Greta cursed.
I don't know why, but my eyelid twitched.
We quickly arrived at the Berger's place. Luckily, Greta's parents were also out. Yasmin is married, so she wasn't at her parents' house.
So at that time, there were only me, Greta, and Dylan at the Berger's place.
Seeing me, Dylan quickly came over and helped me up. "Is your foot seriously sprained? Did you apply any medication? Do you want to go to the hospital and get it checked?"
"Not serious. It's just swollen," he helped me sit down on the sofa. Greta brought me water and candy.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to." Dylan felt guilty.
"I didn't even see who pushed me. How can you blame yourself? Dylan, don't be so nervous. I didn't break my leg," I laughed.
Greta laughed. "Dylan's intentions were too obvious!"
I glared at her, but she pretended not to see.
Dylan had long been accustomed to Greta's style and enjoyed it. He simply smiled and asked, "What do you want to eat? I'll cook."
It was already 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We had already missed lunch.
Greta immediately ordered two dishes, while I said any dish would do.
Greta betrayed Dylan once again. "Oh, Syl, don't worry. Dylan remembered what dishes you liked. I guaranteed that today's lunch would be all your favorites!"
Dylan had already gone to the kitchen, so he probably didn't hear. I covered Greta's mouth with my hand. "Don't push me!"
"Umm umm umm..." Greta was saying something.
After I released her mouth, she said, "Are you trying to murder your future sister-in-law?"
