"Mom... I hesitated for a moment and then declined, I might not go this year," I said.
Evie sighed and said, "You should come back, I have something to tell you. Maybe this way you will understand why Frederic has been at odds with you all these years."
I turned around and glanced at Frederic, who was staring at me.
I loved him for ten years, and I knew everything about his life, personality, and preferences. How could there be something I didn't know about him?
This really aroused my curiosity.
"Okay," I agreed. It wouldn't be bad if I could find out the reasons why Frederic had been cold towards me all these years before he and I were completely done.
After hanging up the phone, I said to Frederic, "Let's go, we're going to your parents' place."
He remained silent and turned to the car.
I followed closely behind. As I was about to get into the passenger seat, I changed my mind and took a seat in the back instead.
His co-pilot's seat should now be Emilia's exclusive seat, and I have no intention of competing with her. Even if she is not present, I am willing to voluntarily give it up.
My action made Frederic's face even darker.
But he didn't say much, he just drove off to Crocus City.
On the way, I sent a message to my parents, explaining the reason. Fortunately, they understood me, but they hoped that I would return as soon as possible.
It was cold and snowy, and there were occasional traffic jams, so Fredetric's car was slower than before. Normally, the journey takes about four hours, but today it took him six hours to arrive.
The time for having lunch has already passed, so we can only wait until evening to have dinner directly.
"Mom, Dad," I warmly greeted Evie and Ernie as usual.
To be honest, after what happened with Emilia, I actually liked and felt closer to Evie and Ernie.
As soon as I thought about my divorce from Frederic, I had to give up Batamen to someone else, and I felt a little reluctant.
"Syl, you're back," Evie approached and grabbed my hand, then glared at Frederic, her eyes filled with blame.
Frederic turned a blind eye and simply took off his coat, then sat down on the sofa.
Ernie hummed and turned his face away from Frederic, instead calling out to me, "Syl, come over here and sit."
Evie and I sat down. Then Evie asked, "How long have you been driving? Did you eat anything on the way? I asked the kitchen staff to save some food for you, so you can eat a little less for now and have more later in the evening."
"Okay," I nodded.
After the food was served, Frederic and I casually ate some, while Evie and Ernie watched on the side. The atmosphere among the four of us was somewhat subtle.
"Have some more. You're so thin, it breaks my heart," Evie said as she served me some food.
"Okay," I felt a warmth in my heart and smiled at her.
Frederic ate his meal with his head down, without making any sound or making eye contact with anyone.
After finishing the meal, he went upstairs alone, while Ernie said he needed to go to the study to handle some work, leaving only me and Evie in the living room.
She said, "Syl, wait for me."
A few minutes later, she brought a cowhide envelope from upstairs. With a puzzled look on my face, she opened the envelope and handed me several photos. "Take a look at this."
I took the photo and examined it, and immediately my face changed, filled with shock.
There were a total of seven photos, each one leaving me in unprecedented shock and disbelief. After I finished looking at all the photos, I couldn't snap out of it completely.
